Food. It's a good thing, isn't it? Believe it or not, there are people who have to be reminded to eat. But for the rest of us, the end of one meal is the start of the timer for the next snack or meal.
What if we looked at our spiritual food the same way? What if we hungered after righteousness the way we hunger for our next meal? Let's take up the challenge to tear into the Bible the way we tear into a meal when we're really, really hungry. Amazing things happen when we feast on God's Word.
Turning to earthly food, we are moving the June potluck to the first Sabbath, June 1. That's because Family Promise will be hosted in our church from June 2 through 9. About 4 to 6 families will be sleeping in our church every night that week. During the day, they will be attending job training or interviews and other activities designed to prepare them for the next step toward independence. These families have hit a temporary setback in life. A little extra help will make all the difference in the world.
Come to a Family Promise Open House on Sunday, June 2, 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., in the Fellowship Center. If you would like to volunteer, call Dennis Jorgenson, firstname.lastname@example.org, or come to the Volunteer training on May 20, 6:30 p.m., at the church. There are many ways to help.
If you have someone in your family graduating this year, be sure to let the church office know. We don't want to miss anyone.
