40 Days of Prayer - 2015
Day 18 - September 30

God's Golden Bowls
By Ginny Allen

I have a few small but beautiful bowls in my living room. The bowls have come from different places I have been around the world. They are mostly in various shades of blue since blue is my favorite color. The ones I love best are brilliant cobalt blue. In those bowls are some of my favorite rocks from our rock collection. One has tiny mosaic tiles from Verbena Italy given to us by Arno Hudeck before he died. Those tiles were ones from his collection that he used as a master mosaic artist in some of the great cathedrals in America, his legacy to the world.

I love my beautiful little bowls filled with things important to me. Those things and the bowls would probably not be important to anyone else except maybe my husband.

Did you know God has bowls, too, that he keeps in Heaven? His bowls are filled with things that are important to him. And probably only to Him and His Son, Jesus. Though I have a feeling that the Holy Spirit likes to look at what's in the bowls, too. God's bowls, unlike mine, are not blue and they are not even glass. God's bowls are golden bowls. They must be beautiful! Made of pure gold! And God keeps his most precious things in his beautiful golden bowls. He keeps the prayers of the saints, his saints, in his golden bowls. I didn't 't call you saints! God called you "saints", though some translations simply say "people".

Knowing that God keeps your prayers in the form of incense in golden bowls tells you how important your prayers are to Him! He doesn't hear them and forget them but he keeps them forever and always. Much like sweethearts keep their old love letters! That because God loves you forever and always. Keep those prayers coming and fill those golden bowls!

“...the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each having a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.”
Revelation 5:8 NKJV

Ask God to give you a greater and deeper desire to spend time in prayer with Him.
