Sometimes people ask, “Why doesn’t God answer my prayers?” Did you know that the most common cause of unanswered prayer is prayerlessness! In other words, people are not taking time to present their requests to God. The Bible says in James 4:2 “You don’t have because you don’t ask.”
When my two sons were little they had no problem asking for what they wanted or needed, even if it was just what they thought they needed. They asked confidently for a new ball, or a bike, or even for some of my time to play with them. They didn’t always immediately get what they asked but they knew I loved them and would do my best for them. So as they grew up they continued to ask. Still today my son will call and ask if I can spend a couple of hours helping him work on his jeep. He still knows I love him and will do whatever I can to help him. Sometimes I know he is working on his jeep but I don’t go help until he calls. When he realizes he needs help then I have his permission to go and help.
Perhaps God is waiting for you to ask for his help, to give him permission to act in your behalf. Remember He loves you and will do his best for you. Don’t hesitate to ask!
“You don’t have because you don’t ask.”
- Is there something you have hesitated to ask God to do for you? Ask him now.
- Pray for our children and grandchildren that they will always choose to follow God.
