Fitness…for heaven or for here?

We tend to think of fitness for heaven as more spiritual than physical, yet what we put into our bodies has tremendous impact on what we’ll be able to put into our minds. The mind is the stronghold against deception and the gateway to understanding spiritual things, which help make us fit for heaven.

As Adventists, we already know this…in theory. But in practice, are we living it?

Our brains and bodies require more than a bowl of Fruit Loops and a Frappuccino to grow into the full stature of what God originally planned. We are called to be an anomaly to the world, to be a ‘peculiar people’.

“You are what you eat” has never been more relevant. Now is a good time to dust off your copy of Counsels on Diet and Foods. Pick one thing to change this week; cut down on snacking, increase your water intake, don’t salt your food before you taste it. Did you know if you taste your food before you salt it, you would actually use less salt?

The only exercise many of us get is jumping to conclusions and skating on thin ice. Make a plan to take a brisk 15-minute walk through your neighborhood every day and stop periodically to flex your facial muscles by smiling and chatting with neighbors.

Our evangelistic Series will give us a chance to show people that we don’t just talk the talk; we walk the walk. Our health, fitness and attitude can improve in just a matter of days. Mrs. White said the health message will open doors that otherwise would stay closed. Now, that’s motivation!

“So whether you eat or drink; or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”

Pray for our health message to inspire our lifestyle choices so that we can inspire others.
