Day 5 - September 17

I Believe in Evangelism
By Ginny Allen

I believe in Evangelism! Why? I believe in Evangelism because I am a product of evangelism.

We moved from Omaha, Nebraska to Chicago, Illinois in October of my Sophomore year of high school. The very next Saturday, as it was to me then, I found myself along with my family in the old, very old, West Central church in Chicago's west side. Almost in Oak Park.

Now fast forward to late spring 1957. Our church was having evangelistic meetings. My family had been having Bible studies once a week since early November. Everything we had studied made sense. Now we found ourselves in meetings that made it all very clear to us. I well remember my response during that old song "Just as I Am", The organ was soft and my heart was warm as I went to commit my life to Jesus. The words to that song were my words, my thoughts, my commitment. "Just as I am without one plea but that thy blood was shed for me.and that thou bidst me come to thee, O, Lamb of God, I come, I come."

I well remember that every verse spoke to my heart.

I am sure that no one in that church realized that someday God would give me the privilege of speaking in churches, retreats, and camp meetings around the world. I certainly never saw it coming. I just knew that my heart had found its home in Jesus. I never looked back from that commitment!. So let me say it again, I believe in evangelism!

How about you?

“And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.”
Philippians 1:6 NLT

Pray that all those having Bible studies will make time for the evangelistic meetings soon to begin so that God can bring the final conviction to their lives.
